Geocache Description:

The coordinates above will not lead you to the cache, but they will take you to the best place to park while you hunt for it.

In September of 2008, northeast Ohio's newest geocacher, Loftongal, found her very first cache.  Once the addiction took hold, it didn't take long before she was racking up the cache finds, either on her own or with her favorite caching partner.  I had the privilege of meeting them both at the Great Geauga Campout at the end of September that year.

As time passed, Loftongal would occasionally email me with inquiries about various geocaching subjects.  During one of my long-winded answers, I mentioned the northeast Ohio geocaching tradition of giving golden ammo cans to cachers who managed to reach 1,000 finds.  That was all it took to put Loftongal on a mission, dragging her favorite caching partner along with her of course.  It was time to start looking for big numbers!

During one of their all-day caching adventures, an event to which I had been invited, or maybe “recruited” is a better word, we started playing some music from the 1970’s, and the one-hit wonder by the Starland Vocal Band came on.  Being a “young’un”, Loftongal had never heard the song “Afternoon Delight” before, and she wondered what the title and lyrics meant.  When we explained it to her, we received her standard response, “That’s ridiculous!”  Of course, I don’t think even Loftongal could argue that caching any time between morning and evening is definitely an afternoon delight!

Soon Loftongal was on her way to a special location to hunt for that elusive 1,000th cache.  Her will and determination drove her onward, toward that very special cache find in February of 2010.  As a tribute to the drive that brought her to her 1K milestone, I have hidden this simple cache.  In order to find and log it however, you will need to do some research to find out a little bit about the cacher known as Loftongal.

The cache can be found at the following coordinates:

N 41° 27.ABC   W 081° 05.DEF

You will need to answer the questions below to determine the correct number for each of the letters above.  All answers can be found on the geocaching website, either on various cache pages, Loftongal's profile, or on her favorite caching partner's profile.

  2)  “Pick N Pay”

You may check your answers using the geochecker link below.

The cache is a camo'ed beach safe with a splash of Loftongal's favorite color.  Although it is listed as a micro, there may be room for some very small trade items or coins.  Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log, and be sure to congratulate Loftongal on her 1K milestone!

12/23/19 The container has been changed to a camo'ed bison tube due to repeated "muggling" by the local critters.
