Geocache Description:

The coordinates above will not lead you to the cache, but they will take you to the entrance of the park where it is hidden.

In early September of 2008, a new geocacher in northeast Ohio who had chosen the caching name HippoMaMa, found her very first cache.  Soon she was hitting the trails looking for Tupperware and film cans wherever she could find them.  Although she sometimes cached alone or with family members, she most often teamed up with her favorite caching partner for many memorable and fun-filled caching adventures.

HippoMaMa was very determined to complete my 70’s One-Hit Wonders caching series so that she could find a CD filled with great music from the 1970’s.  One of her favorite songs from that time period was “Gimme Dat Ding”, which in fact was a one-hit wonder for the Pipkins.  It’s also a phrase that many cachers have probably used when searching for a particularly difficult cache – “Just gimme dat ding already!!”

In February of 2010, HippoMama finally reached that magical milestone when she found her 1,000th cache.  It definitely didn’t come easy, as she had spent many a frigid morning, afternoon, and evening hunting for caches in the gusting winds and the deep snow of January and early February in northeast Ohio.  Trust me, I was there for a few of them, and it was cold!

As a tribute to the tenacity and perseverance she displayed while in quest of her 1K milestone, I offer this humble cache.  In order to find it and log it, you will have to do some research to find out a little bit about the cacher known as HippoMaMa.

The cache can be found at the following coordinates:

N 41° 29.ABC   W 081°20.DEF

You will need to answer the questions below to determine the correct number for each of the letters above.  All answers can be found on the geocaching website, either on various cache pages, HippoMaMa's profile, travelbug pages, or on her favorite caching partner's profile.

A.  What was the very first cache find that HippoMaMa ever logged?

  0)  “ZEP”
  6)  “HippoMaMa Finds some Tupperware”
  7)  "I’m Hip!"
  2)  “LowerFoxValley”

B.  Which of the following geocachers is HippoMaMa’s favorite caching partner?

  5)  Baergababe
  1)  Loftongal
  9)  Thometootsie
  6)  Vizquelvixen

C.  HippoMaMa’s first cache hide and first travelbug were both tributes to a wonderful woman, whom she affectionately referred to as “Weeble”.  Who was the Weeble?

  8)  HippoMaMa’s MaMa
  6)  HippoMaMa’s first grade teacher
  1)  HippoMaMa’s neighbor
  4)  HippoMaMa’s MaMa’s MaMa

D.  HippoMaMa’s 800th cache find was very special for her because it was the final cache in a series of caches placed near the old Geauga Lake Park.  When HippoMama was younger, she worked at Geauga Lake as a member of which group?

  3)  The Wild Angels
  5)  The Fun Bunch
  2)  The Geauga Laker Girls
  6)  The Funland Floozies

E.  Although HippoMaMa is quite intelligent, she is sometimes confused by signs or directions which might have more than one meaning.  While out caching one day, HippoMaMa saw a street sign that said “No Outlet”.  What did she think the sign meant?

  7)  The street was a dead end
  0)  There were no shopping malls in the area
  6)  None of the people on the street had power
  4)  There were no public restrooms available

F.  For her 1,000th cache, HippoMaMa traveled outside of Ohio with her favorite caching partner for a very special and memorable find.  What location did they choose to commemorate their 1,000th finds?

  9)  Bloomington, MN
  6)  Cooperstown, NY
  4)  Washington, D.C.
  8)  Las Vegas, NV

You may check your answers using the geochecker link below.

The cache is a camo'ed beach safe hidden in a patch of woods that separates the soccer field from the baseball field.  It should be fairly easy to access from the soccer field side, but there will be a slight incline very near the cache.  Please use caution as it can be slippery at any time of year.  The park closes at dusk.

Although it is listed as a micro, there may be room in the cache for some very small trinkets or coins.  Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log, and be sure to congratulate HippoMaMa on her 1K milestone!
