President Benjamin Harrison was born in Ohio on August 20th, 1833 and passed away on March 13th, 1901.

He was the twenty-third president and served one term in office from 1889-1893. President Harrison had moved to the state of Indiana which is where he became a politician.

During the Civil War he served as a Brigadier General. After the war he campaigned for the governorship of Indiana in which he lost.

In 1888 he pursued the presidency of the United States and won over his Democratic competitor, Grover Cleveland. During his presidency he passed legislation including the McKinley Tariff and the Sherman Antitrust Act. Six states were admitted into the Union under his presidency.

After his one term in office, President Harrison moved back to his Indiana residency and remarried and wrote a book.

He passed away of Influenzae in 1901.
