Tämä kätkösarja esittelee Porin kaupungin alueen korkeimmat maastonkohdat. Kätköistä löydät koordinaatit alkuperäisen Porin (“Porin huiput, Bonus -- Peaks of the Pori, Bonus”), vuoden 1558 korkeimmalle kohdalle Päärnäisten harjulle.
This cache series presents tthe highest landmarks in the city of Pori. get the coordinates from the caches for “Porin huiput, Bonus / Peaks of the Pori, Bonus” cache that was the highest landmark in the original City of Pori when it was founded in 1558.
Porin kaupungin korkein kohta vuoteen 1971 oli Rottasuonkalliot. Korkeus merenpinnasta on vaatimattomat 48m. Rottajärvi (n. 950m länteen) ja sitä ympäröivä Rottasuo sijaitsevat alueella, jolla on ollut paljon esihistoriallista asutusta, jota leimaa Ruotsista suuntautunut varhainen siirtolaisuus. Viljely on alkanut Kokemäenjoen latvoilla kivikauden loppupuolella yli 4000 vuotta sitten. Tuolloin Porin seutu oli vielä osittain meren alla. Rikkaasta esihistoriasta on osoituksena alueella tavattu runsas varhaismetallikautisten hautaraunioiden määrä. Itse Rottajärvi on kuroutunut merestä n. 4300 vuotta sitten.
Talvella autolla pääsee lähimmäksi Rottapäkin tietä myöten. Tien päästä alkaa yksityistie, joka sopii metsäkoneille. Urassa kulkee myös latu, joten suksilla matkaa tulee vajaat 2 km suuntaan. Latua myöten ei pääse kätkölle asti vaan loppumatka on mentävä umpihangessa.
Varsinkin kesäaikana toinen vaihtoehtoinen reitti on lähestyä kätköä pohjoisesta Korteniityntieltä. Tätä kautta on lyhyempi kävellä, jos noudattaa Rottapäkintien päässä olevaa ajokieltoa metsäautotielle.
Korkein kohta lähteiden mukaan on N 61º 31.823
E 021º 55.589, mutta näin talvella tämä oli selvästi ylempänä (tai sitten gps heitti).

Till 1971 the highest point was Rottasuonkalliot (rat swamp rocks). The elevation was modest 48m from sea level. Rat lake (approx. 950m to west) and it’s surrounding swamp locates in the area where has been prehistoric settlement, which has got it’s population from Sweden. The cultivation at the top of the river Kokemäki has been started at the end of stone age over 400 years ago. During that time Pori region was covered by the sea. As an example of this rich prehistoric time there are substantial amount of pre metal age tomb remains. The Rat lake itself has been incarcerated from the sea some 4300 years ago.
In wintertime Rottapäkintie on the shortest way to approach the cache. At the end of that road the begins private forest road that is suitable for forest machinery, but on the read there goes ski trail. By skies it’s some 2 km to reach the cache. Ski trail doesn't go all the way. You must go into deep snow to get the cache
The other choice is to approach it from the north along Korteniityntie, This might be more suitable road on summertime especially if you obey the injunction to use the forest road from Rottapäkintie.
