Description
Forest Lane Park has always had wildlife and nature conservation at its heart. Many species are encouraged by the variety of fauna, which includes mature woodland, orchard and wildflower meadow, new woodland, a dipping pond and lake. Sympathetic planting ensures that butterflies and damsel flies flourish. A pair of swans and a heron are regular visitors. There are also three types of woodpecker here although they are more heard than seen.
In December 2009 a nature trail was marked with totem poles. Most areas of the park are wheelchair accessible although the final cache location may prove a little too far off track.
The Cache
Follow the totem pole trail from the waypoint for A and fill in the crib sheet below. You should be able to copy and paste into a note on your electronic device or may prefer to write it out.
The Play area opposite the southern exit from the park has been greatly improved and is a testament to the vision and investment in this Park by Newham and the local community. If you have time it is an ideal reward for any younger cachers after finding the cache.
The cache is a camo'ed plastic cylinder about the diameter of a baked bean tin, and a little taller.
This is a busy place in the summer and on school holidays but during term time you may find yourself muggle free.
Please replace the cache as you found it away from casual observation.
