Geocache Description:

The terrain is flat and paved for most of the tour but you do have to cross some downtown streets and there will be trail that is hard packed dirt with a slight incline at some point.

You can't find this cache without doing a little math and legwork, follow the multi-cache to some interesting and/or historical spots around Peterborough and you will be rewarded in the end. (We don't recommend letting kids run free on any parts of this cache). The cache awaits you in a pleasant little oasis of a spot downtown. Your journey starts at the Historical Society Building and it should take you less than an hour to find the cache.

#1 Starting coordinates:
42.52.615
071.57.057

A = Locate the date Peterborough had its first permanent settlement, take the last three digits of the year and subtract 28

Your next destination (#2) is:
42.52.A
071.56.964

#2
B = Locate the date of the flood high watermark, take the last three digits of the year and subtract 270

C = Locate the date the Aquarius Fire Company was founded, take the last three digits of the year and add 30

Your next destination (#3) is:
42.52.B
071.56.C

#3
D = Year original building was built – Year institution was established x 10

Your next destination (#4) is:
42.52.D
071.56.938

#4
E = Number of music stands to the left of the dinosaur x 8 x 10
F = Number of rays of sunshine in the book x 10
G = Number of yellow dots on the mushroom the troll is sitting beneath and subtract 2
H = Number of owls x 2
J = Number of fish in book
K = Year designed by artist plus 173 divided by 10

After deciphering #4, we recommend walking the short path along the river directly behind you on your way to #5 and the cache. It doesn't add more than a few minutes to your walk and is the more scenic route.

#5
To save some time and anxiety, use the following coordinates as a pass through on your way to the cache (once you are here you will not have to cross the river again).
42.52.E
071.57.0F

The cache can be found near:
42.52.GHJ
071.57.K

Closer to the cache there is a mild hill with an edge, so small kids should be kept close by.

Note: this is our first hide so we have added a little something sweet to the cache for the first finder :)
