'Cache Me If You Can' is placed on Bice Mountain. It's a beautiful series of rocky dirt roads and trails between Hurricane Valley and New Market, Alabama. The majority of the land on the mountain is owned by either timber companies or hunting clubs. However, according to the Alabama State Land Surveying officer I met, all the trails are open to the public. Watch for signage denoting private property (and there are LOTS of them!) Parking is very limited near the trail entrance. The best parking area is about 1/4 mile past the trail head at 34.52.447N 086.22.997W
When I placed the cache, I spent the day out traversing the woods. Sights included a close encounter with several interesting buzzards, three deer, an owl, and more squirrels than I could count. I will post some pictures of the day later.
The cache should be fairly easy to find from the trail. I did not venture too far off the trail to prevent inadvertant trespassing. Actually, a sharp-eyed geocacher might even see the container from the trail, if you know where to look!
Initial contents of this cache include:
- Brinkmann minimag flashlight
- Mapping CD for Garmin eMap
- Mapping CD for Magellan 330
- Swiss Army knife
- AA Batteries
- Pitfall game CD (The Mayan Adventure)
- Cow hooves (for any 'trail dogs' out there!)
- Bead necklace
- 2 magnifying glasses
- 4 candles
- Spacewalker PS/2 mouse
- Sun mouse pad
Good luck ... cache me if you can!
