Geocache Description:

This is my first placed cache and was given to me by The Bewdley Owl. It is a medium sized Tupperware box with room for small items.
It is located in Chase Woods and you are guaranteed a super walk concluding with a very good view over Ross-on-Wye from the open ground 50 metres above the cache, with St. Mary's Church dominating the scene.

It is advised to use the free Car Park at the start to the Town and Country Trail located at N 51 54.325 W 002 35.135(Fernbank).
There are various paths to the cache, straight up the tarmac road being the easiest. However, you can set off along the Town and Country Trail from which there are several footpaths leading into the Woods, one of which is the Wye Valley Walk. Indeed, it is very simple to make this short journey into a circular route by starting or finishing along the Trail, which is the old railway line from Ross-on-Wye to Monmouth and Gloucster. It ceased functioning as a consequence of the Beeching cuts.

It is also easy enough to begin your walk in the centre of town from where you can appreciate the stunning backdrop of Chase Woods.

The footpaths can be muddy after rain so walking boots might be wisest.Whichever way the cache is approached it should prove a rewarding and not too strenuous uphill trek.Dogs should be kept on a lead..

In Spring, the woods are enhanced by a mass of bluebells and wood anemones.
