Geocache Description:

The cache is a medium "Lock n Lock" camo container with a logbook and lots of swag, including a FTF pin, “Dragon Spinner Coin” trackable geocoin and several of my signature pathtags. You do not have to “bushwack” to find the cache – stay on the Kennebec River trail until you get to the cache area.

Take Route 209 south from Bath about 1.3 miles. Take a left onto Fiddlers Reach Road to the end of pavement. You will go by the “Noble Hill Farm” and a “Private Road” sign and start down a hill. The parking lot is on the right going down the hill and is well marked with a green preserve sign and a gate. If you get to Spruce Lane you have gone too far.

Follow the trail (it is not marked, but very evident) which travels along the “Noble Hill Farm” fence for quite a distance – do not feed the horses. Once you get to the meadow, walk down towards the water and you will see that you can go left or right at the large Pine Trees.

If you bear left there is an unmarked trail (Kennebec River Trail) just before you get to the water which has some spectacular views. This trail loops and rejoins the field at the upper end.

If you take the trail to the right it goes past a field where Fort Noble was located and ends up at the Fiddlers Reach Boat launch (can be rough traveling when you get to the stream). The “Maine Easy Mystery Cache” and “2012” Cache are in this vicinity. DURING THE SUMMER THERE IS POISON IVY IN THE FIELD ON THIS TRAIL TO THE RIGHT - BE CAREFUL.

This 13.2 acre preserve was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cunningham. The land features mixed woodlands and several acres of open fields as well as more than a quarter mile of Kennebec River shoreline and interesting vernal pools which abound with life in the spring. Outstanding views of the Kennebec are afforded by high rock ledges on the east side of the preserve and an overlook on the south side offers views of a small salt marsh.
