Geocache Description:

BYOP!

This cache was inspired by Photino’s Scientists: A spawner cache (GC22GVD)

Please use stealth when retrieving and replacing the cache. I would open and sign the log in the car.

It is a large micro or a small small.

The cache description was written last year by a group of my first grade students who were reading a biography of Rachel Carson. They requested I inform you the name of their reading group was the Rubber Duckies.

Rachel Carson was a scientist that studied how to take care of animals and plants. She was born in Pennsylvania.

She was an author. Ms. Carson wrote The Sea Around Us and Silent Spring. Did you know that when she wrote Under the Sea Wind she went on a ship to go scuba diving because she wanted to know what it was like to be a fish?

When she was only 10 years old, a story she wrote was put in a magazine and she got a prize for it.

Her birthday was May 27, 1907. She used a microscope to learn about nature. Ms. Carson learned that bug poison could kill birds and other animals. The president thought her ideas were better for the earth and the plants and the animals. The president and the people passed laws to help keep the world healthy.

Rachel Carson worked hard to make the world a healthier place.
