Tyresta by är inte bara porten till Tyresta natureservat och nationalpark, det är ochså ett intressant kulturminne. Flera vikingatida gravfält i omgivningarna och byns vackra runhäll vittnar om dess historiska betydelse. Byn var befolkad redan på 1300-talet och den gamla tidens struktur finns ännu kvar. Byn nämns för första gången i skrift 1362,men det var under 1800-talet som den fick sin nuvarande form efter det att man flyttat på några av byggnaderna.
I Tyresta by finns även en kaffestuga, försäljning av konsthantverk, lanthandel med korvgrillning samt Nationalparkernas hus som presenterar alla Sveriges nationalparker i en utställning och i ett mäktigt bildspel som verkligen rekommenderas.

Antalet gårdar i byn under mitten på 1700-talet plus 811 = AAA.
Under 1700-talet var byn samlad runt Byberget. Endast en gård från den tiden består. Antalet bokstäver i namnet på den gården plus 107 = BBB.

Tyresta by består inte bara av själva byn utan även av ängarna runt byn vilket kan vara bra att tänka på när man räknat ut kordinaterna och kanske tycker att avståndent möjligen verkar lite långt.

Tyresta by is just not the gateway to Tyresta national park, it is also an interesting historical place. Several grave fields from the Viking Age and the runestone bears witness to the historical importance of this place. The village was inhabited already during the 12 th century and the old lay out of the village is still there to be seen. Tyresta by is for the first time mentioned in dispatches 1362, but it was during the 17 th century that the village recived its present lay out after some buildings had been moved.
At Tyresta by there is a charming rustic coffee room, a small shop that sells local handicraft and a small village shop that provides barbeques. This is also the place of "Nationalparkernas Hus" an exhibition of all Swedish national parks. The park wardens working at this place are very friendly and knowledgeable about Tyresta national park and neighbouring areas. A visit to "Nationalparkernas Hus" is, to my mind, not to be missed should you be in the area.

It might be worth taking into consideration that the meadows surrounding Tyresta by is actually a part of the village, should you think the distance is slightly too long to the final place.
