It is one of my favourite places but I am biased because my girlfriend is from here.
The soil is rich and can be crumbled easily in your hands. It is dark brown and has the aroma of fertility. Sheep can be seen grazing outside on the lush grass, which is something you do not see on Tenerife often!
Climbing out of La Laguna in the car you come to Esperanza with its multitude of Traditional Restaurants full of Canarian fare. It is a place to relax, enjoy and get to know the people. There is a Go-Cart racing ring, a Shop for Traditional Canarian Gifts, an Old abandoned Zoo and the area is well known for its local "Petanque" Competitions.
This is where you can park and explore the Town Plaza...... with its mighty wine press and an Elegant Waterfall. Above and behind the Waterfall you will find that there is a Wonderful Sendero (path) that can take you to 'La Vica'. Follow this.... on its natural course as indicated by the Red and white parallel markers.
You are looking for a screw-top, aluminium Tub covered in Camo tape about the size of a local coffee cup. There is no pen to log your visit.... so, please take one with you (note).
