Geocache Description:

Nothing explosive about this cache, just a small lock-and-lock hidden in a location that is thought to have once been a CCC camp. The cache contains a logbook and pencil, a few CCC commemorative lapel pins, and a couple smiley face erasers. The cache is located off the red trail in Robinson State Park. Some minimal bushwhacking might be required depending on time of year, but if you look sharp you’ll probably see a couple of faint trails leading to the cache area.

Other points of interest:

There is a placard near where the red trail crosses the park road (this part of the road is usually inaccessible to vehicles) describing the work the boys in the CCC did back in the 30’s.

In the immediate vicinity of the cache can be found the remnants of a large hearth, some concrete platforms with what looks like plumbing, and another concrete formation (a square pit) I don’t really recognize as anything.

If you look at the area in Google Earth or other satellite photos, you can see a cluster of pines (supposedly non-native) in a sort of parallelogram formation. These are thought to have been planted by the Corps after they de-camped.

Enjoy!
