Geocache Description:

There were five gates in the boundary of Nagoya Castle and the castle town in those days. (Shimizu-gomon, Higashiote-gomon, Honmachi-gomon, Misono-gomon, Habashita-gomon).
The neighborhood of Shimizu Bridge with this cache is the place where there was Higashiote-gomon Gate. The gate does not stay, however the stone wall of the gate and the outside moat still stays and can remember those days.
The stone wall stones is carved crest. The crest was carved by the Daimyo who made the stone wall to prevent theft and the loss of the stone.

外堀に囲まれた名古屋城三の丸には、北に清水御門、東に東大手御門、南に本町御門と御園御門、西に巾下御門の5つの門がありました。
キャッシュのある清水橋付近は、そのうちの東大手御門があった場所です。門そのものは残っていませんが、門の石垣やそれに続く外堀の土塁は今も残っていて、当時を偲ぶ事が出来ます。
石垣の石には、さまざまな形の刻紋が残っています。この刻紋は、当時築城を担当した各大名が、苦労して運んだ石の盗難や紛失を防ぐために彫ったものです。
