June may be Dairy Month, but August is Cheeze Month. Our favorite cheese is cheddar. Cheddar can be mild, medium, or sharp. The older it gets, the sharper it gets. Some may think cheddar can get too dang sharp. That's when it is called "extra sharp". We like that extra sharpness--it adds a bit of "zing" to things.
Have you ever done a puzzle cache and cursed the cache owner and all of his ancestors? Have you ever looked for a cache along an unpaved road composed of a combination of boulders, mud, and ruts, and it's not plowed in the winter? Have you ever found a cache where the container was cylindrical and plastic, about 4'' across and 5" high, tethered to a stick and stuck in a log? Chances are you were looking for a Hayward Cheezehead cache.
But have you ever found a cache in the area that took you to a "real purdy spot"? Or one that highlighted something or some place special in Hayward or the North Woods? And have you ever attended an area caching event where the host made you feel right at home and welcome, making you want to come back for the next one? Chances are those were Hayward Cheezehead caches, too.
Inspired by others in his early caching days, Hayward Cheezehead now inspires newer cachers in their seek-and-find activities Up Nort and elsewhere. This blend provides for a rich caching experience for locals and visitors alike. We speak from experience. Whether we see HCH as mild, medium, sharp, or extra sharp, we think he's just getting better with age.
And cheddar never looked better.
