This cache is part of a series intended to showcase Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.
These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all… enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.
This particular cache is a small container hidden along Rustic Road 51, a very windy gravel road in Pierce County. It includes portions of 20th Avenue from County CC to County AA. Total length is 4.3 miles.
Located near rolling agricultural farmland, this narrow, winding gravel road frequently crosses a trout stream in the midst of dense woodlands. NOTE: There are few bridges to cross the stream…most of the times it is a natural water crossing. At the intersection of 20th Avenue and County Highway CC is a century old church dated 1881. Just a few miles south of county Highway CC is a wayside historical marker and the original house where Laura Ingalls Wilder grew up and which she wrote about in the book Little House in the Big Woods.
NOTE: DO NOT PARK AT GZ because it is a narrow section of the road near a cliff face. USE THE PARKING COORDINATES. Please be respectful of private property and take care with retrieving and replacing the cache to save the experience for the next cacher. Happy hunting!
