Heritage Park Observation Deck Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

graniterhino: It pains me to do this but I do need to archive heritage park: observation deck for two reasons. First, I have moved to the east bay and have had difficulty finding the time to make new cache camo. Second, I feel that the area has been compromised by the teens that hang out in the park. There has been frequent muggle graffiti, cache plundering and even a raw egg dropped into the cache container. I hope that in the future I can reinvent this cache in the park. Thanks for all the smileys, favorite points, great reviews and mostly your patience and support waiting for me to fix it.

Geocache Description:

Located in Heritage Park. Posted hours are 7 am to sunset.

I have to start this listing out with a nod to the cache that re-introduced me to this park. Growing up I spent many days navigating creeks and parks of Burlingame, Millbrae and San Mateo. A river runs through it (GC16YE4) brought me back here soon after discovering Geocaching. Thanks Graniteandgraham!

Now the park:
Once a residential property, this park now provides passive recreation for the neighborhood where it is located. There are no formal recreational facilities at the park. Only benches and a small picnic table are available at the site. The intent of the park is to provide a spot for a quiet lunch or a few minutes of contemplation. The park is densely planted. Many of the plants date to the time when a residence stood on the site.

At first glance it doesn't seem like much, but take a few steps farther in and downtown Burlingame starts to fade away. Walk down the stairs and the nearby residences disappear. It always amazes me how simple line of sight can transport me much farther away than a few blocks. Please sit and enjoy your lunch or a few quiet moments on one of the benches by the creek.

The hide:
Once you've taken in the park, I feel it's only fair to let you know that you can't reach GZ from the creek(see cache title). As sad as I was to see the last cache here archived, this has provided me with the opportunity to test a cache that I have been developing the last few months.

Please make sure the containers seals are clear when closing as the location is sure to get wet during the winter months and be sure to replace the camo as found to keep the difficulty rating consistent for everyone. If you'd like a hint, feel free to contact me via my profile page. Enjoy!
