Fossilienacker
Ihr sucht Fossilien – denkt
an einen Hammer!
Auf den ersten Blick nur braune
Steine, doch viele bergen wahre Schätze. Der Fossilienacker in
Nettersheim ist eine besondere Gelegenheit, Fossilien ohne die
Gefahr des Steinschlages wie im Steinbruch zu suchen, zu finden und
zu sammeln. Und das 503 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel!
Wer genau hinsieht, entdeckt
Fossilien, die etwa 380 Millionen Jahre alt sind. Damals in der
Devonzeit lag die Eifel südlich des Äquators in der sogenannten
Eifeler Meeresstraße im Bereich eines flachen, warmen Meeres.
Dieses tropische Meer wurde von vielen, vor allem riffbildenden und
riffbesiedelnden Organismen bewohnt. Vor euch liegen die
versteinerten Reste eines solchen Korallenriffes, das sich in
diesem warmen Meerwasser entwickelt hatte. Die Lebensräume in einem
solchen Riff zeigt euch das untenstehende Diagramm.
Aus den kalkhaltigen Behausungen
der ehemaligen Riffbewohner bildete sich das Kalkgestein unter
euren Füßen. Darin blieben viele Gehäuse oder deren Abdrücke gut
erhalten und sind bis heute als Fossilien zu finden. Viel Spass bei
der Suche.
Für Interessierte: Im Ort gibt es
das Haus der Fossilien „Alte Schmiede“ in der
Bahnhofstr. 50 mit Ausstellung und weiteren Angeboten. Wer sich

Die Frage und
Aufgabe
Bitte begebt euch an die oben genannte Koordinate und studiert die
Informationstafel.
- Frage: Welche beiden der fünf
„Fundstücke“ sind in der Grafik der Lebensräume des
Riffs nicht explizit erwähnt?
- Aufgabe: Sammle eigenhändig mindestens
eine Fossilie auf diesem Acker und mache ein Foto deines
Fundes.Hier zwei Beispiele aus unseren

Foto von eurem Fund. Bitte wartet dann auf die Log-Freigabe bevor
ihr euren Log-Eintrag macht und das Bild eures Fundes
anfügt.
- Bitte macht ein Foto, optional von euch
ODER eurem GPS (mit sichtbaren Koordinaten), vor dem Fossilienacker
und fügt es eurem Log-Eintrag hinzu.
Logs ohne Bilder und vorherige Log-Freigabe werden
kommentarlos gelöscht!

You are searching after fossils
– keep in mind to bring a hammer with you!
On the first view only brown
stones but lots of them hold a treasure. The acre of fossils in
Nettersheim gives you the seldom opportunity to find and pick
(permitted!) fossils without the danger of falling rocks like in
stone pits. And this on 503 meters above sea level!
Those who pay close attention
will discover fossils 380 million years of age. At that Devonian
time the Eifel was located south of the equator in the so called
strait of Eifel. This was an area of a shallowly and warm sea. This
tropical ocean was occupied by a lot of organisms, primarly
reef-building and reef-settling organisms. Just in front of you
there are laying the fossilised remains of a coral reef which had
grown in this warm seawater. The habitats in such a reef are
displayed in the diagram below.
