Braslovško jezero je umetnega nastanka. Urejeno je bilo leta 1961 na pobudo Turisticnega društva Braslovce, ki si je zadalo cilj, da spremeni Braslovce in njegovo okolico v turisticen kraj.

Braslovce so staro trško naselje v Spodnji Savinjski dolini. Ime izvira iz konca 9. stoletja od kneza Braslava ali od Preslava, pravnika iz srednjega veka.
Braslovce so bile prvic omenjene okrog leta 1140 v povezavi s prafaro, trg pa so postale pred 1385. letom. Trške pravice je kraju podelil grof Herman I. Celjski v drugi polovici 14. stoletja. Med 12. in 15. stoletjem so bili tu Žovneški gospodarji, zato so mocno vplivali na zgodovino
braslovškega obmocja, prav tako pa tudi na zgodovino Savinjske doline in celotne Slovenije.
Na tem obmocju sta bila tudi dva kmecka upora (1673, 1675), ko so se kmetje uprli povecevanju dajatev, a sta bila oba neuspešna. Voditelje upora je vojska ulovila in jih v Celju strogo kaznovala. V kraju je delovalo nižje sodstvo. Prebivalci so pridelovali in prodajali lan ter
konopljo. Leta 1992 so Braslovce v Michaelbeuernu prejele priznanje Braslovce – evropska vas.
Braslovške znamenitosti so oblika in ohranjenost trga, ki je urbanisticni spomenik, cerkev
Marije Vnebovzete in ohranjen protiturški obrambni zid okrog nje, dvorec Legant in freska z nabožnim motivom na nekdanji Vouškovi hiši.
V Braslovški cerkvi je bila pokopana slavna Veronika Deseniška, kasneje prenešena v Jurklošter. Iz Braslovc je tudi Matjaž Debelak, dobitnik srebrne in bronaste olimpijske
medalje v smucarskih skokih.

Braslovce is an old market town, located in the Savinjska valley. The name of the town originates from the late ninth century from the Prince Braslav or Preslav, who was a lawyer in the Middle Ages.

In 1992, Braslovce received recognition Braslovce - European village by Michaelbeuern. Braslovce attractions are the shape and preservation of the market, which is an urban monument, the church of Mary and the preserved defensive wall against Turks around it, the Legant mansion and a fresco with a religious theme on the former Vodušek house.
In Braslovce church was first buried the famous Veronika Deseniška, then transferred to Jurklošter.
