CSONKAVAR Traditional Geocache

Kráľovský Chlmec je prirodzeným administratívnym a kultúrnym centrom horného Medzibodrožia. Rozprestiera sa na  východnom úbočí  Chlmeckej pahorkatiny. Na svahu kopca, južne od mesta sa nachádza hrad alebo skôr zemepánska tvrdza. Postaviť ju mal rod Pálóczyovcov v roku 1414. Podľa iných zdrojov ju dal postaviť Peter z Perína (Perényi) v prvej polovici 16. storočia. V roku 1538 bol hrad prestavaný a v roku 1548 na rozkaz cisára Ferdinanda I. Habsburského zbúraný (pravdepodobne kvôli nezhodám, ktoré mal v tom čase s Perényiovcami). V histórii sa spomína ako CSONKAVÁR (Okyptený hrad).V meste kolujú legendy o dlhých tuneloch pod hradom, ktoré mali viesť k iným šľachtickým sídlam. Čoraz väčšiu časť tufovej zrúcaniny si v súčasnosti odkrajuje vináreň s neorenesančným interiérom, nazvaná podľa majiteľa hradu: Perényiho pivnica.

Kralovsky Chlmec is a natural administrative and cultural centre of upper Bodrog. It is located on the eastern side of Chlmec hill. On the hillside south of the town there is a ruin of a castle or fort. It was built by the Paloczy family in the 1414. According to other sources, it was built by Peter Perenyi in the first half of the 16th century.  In 1538 the castle was rebuilt and in 1548 demolished following the orders of Emperor Ferdinand I. Habsburg (probably due to the disagreements with Perenyi). In the history it  is mentioned as CSONKAVÁR (Lame castle). Long tunnels are leading to other residences below the castle – says the local legends. These days the ruins are connected to the famous local vinery named by the former owner: Perenyi Cellar.
