Welcome to one of a series of geocaches on Camel's Hump State Park placed by the land manager.
Very close to the cache site you will see an intersting object made out of concrete. This was a raceway for raising trout for the State F&W Department stocking program by the former landowner, Leo Lafreniere. Leo raised thousands of small trout here in the early 1930's. The site has changed substantially since then. What is now the town road was not where it is now, it was about 100' off to the west. The hurricane of 1936 wiped out much of the non-concrete parts of the structure, and that was the end of the fish culturing here.
The State of Vermont, Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation purchased the Preston/Lafreniere farmstead (about 450 acres) in 1991.
