This cache will take you around the monastery of Maulbronn. You
have to answer some questions to calculate the final cache
approach, so this is a multi cache. The data collection will take
roundabout 1h with 1.3km of walking, the cache is hidden 1km away
from the monastery, so the complete and successful hunt should not
exceed 3h and 3.4km of walking, even with children or a buggy. You
should have the GPS, a compass (simple)and a shovel (small) with
you. A calculator (simple), some paper (or this printout) and a
pencil could also be useful.
The stash is a white transparent plasticbox, wrapped in darkblue
plasticbag, the original stash-content is: The logbook, a pencil, a
sharpener (Please leave in stash!), A multifunctional tool, a
pinballwriter from Landrover, another pinballwriter, a
SGI-pocketcalculator, a book about navigation, some seed for
decorative plants.
You may park your car at: N49°00.058' E008°48.592'
Now please proceed to: N49°00.067' E008°48.666'
Count the similar doors at the basic store of the building
southwest. A= _
Go next to: N49°00.075' E008°48.666' There is a stairway
northwards, half (?) rock, half wooden. Figure out the number of
the wooden steps. B= _ _
Go on to: N49°00.099' E008°48.813' Here is a fountain.
The amount of nozzles give the number for C. C= _
Went next to: N49°00.053' E008°48.723' Here is an
artifical object, surrounded by a number of pillars. This number is
the value here. D= _ _
Southeast to: N49°00.045' E008°48.752' Here you enter
the paradies. Inside to the northern wall the famous poet
Hölderlin carved his name into the stone, but not all
characters are readable. How many are? E= _
And now southeast to: N49°00.026' E008°48.789' Dangerous
area, lions show up. Lions? Their number is needed here. F= _
And east to: N49°00.043' E008°48.854' At north is a tall
building. Are windows and openings facing south? G= _
Temporarily, as this building is covered: At N49°00.040'
E008°48.653' is the cityhall. Since when ist this building used
for this purpose (XXXX)? Divide this number through 613 to get G
(XXXX/613 = G).
The data collection is finished now.
Latitude of the cache: Please add all collected numbers up. A +
B + C + D + E + F + G = _ _
Divide this through 10. This give the latitude correction in
minutes.
Subtract the correction number from N49°06.832' for the
latitude of the target:
latitude N 4 9° 0 6. 8 3 2 '
(minus) - N 0 0° 0 _ . _ 0 0 '
target: N 4 9° 0 _ . _ 3 2 '
Longitude of the cache:
The correction number for the longitude is ( A * D * G ) + C + E -
8 = _ _ _
Divide this through 1000. This give the longitude correction in
minutes.
Add the longitude correction to E008°48.000' for the longitude
of the target:
longitude E 0 0 8° 4 8. 0 0 0 '
(plus) + E 0 0 0° 0 0. _ _ _ '
target: E 0 0 8° 4 8. _ _ _ '
Now leave for N 49°0_._32 ' E008°48._ _ _ ' , where you
will find a small monument. As this monument is facing south, the
cache is placed under leaves and branches between the roots of a
tree exactly 20m Southeast (133° (maybe 104°)) of this
statue.
And now good luck and happy hunting!
09-03-'02 I have improved the coordinate of the statue for
-0.017'N and -0.008'E at the calculation.
Good luck now!
10-11-'02 I added a workaround for number G.
