Stumped at Big Shoals Puzzle Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Allen_L: I checked on it today, the logging was finished. However they completely messed up the hiding spot and I couldn't find the equivalent with a 1/10 mile. I will try to find an equivalent hiding spot in the general area. If I do then I will create Stumped version 2.

Geocache Description:

This cache not only contains puzzles it is a puzzle.

The cache was created and hidden by Allen and Robert with some help from Johnnie.

This cache will be hard to find. We have to admit we got the idea from another cache, but we added some twists and surprises of our own. Currently the FS road to the area is blocked and I have never seen it when it wasn’t blocked. If it is blocked you will need to hike about a mile and a half to the cache. It is a nice hike along the FS road, not spectacular, just a nice walk in the woods, no major elevation changes. It was a very soothing walk when we placed the cache. If road is unblocked and you have the proper vehicle, you could get within a few hundred feet of the cache.

But fair warning, we think the difficulty rating of 4 ½ is accurate. Be mentally prepared to come and spend a lot of time hunting and not find the cache. The difficulty isn’t due to bad satellite reception; we got good clear reading (of course this may change in the spring and summer). It isn’t due to having to drive or hike all over the place and do strange and unusual math with numbers, or strange things with a compass. It is based on a very good disguise. Although we have hidden this cache where it not clearly visible, you won't need to go turning over rocks or fallen tree branches to locate it.

Now if you do come and don’t find it, at least there are some other caches, which are easier, like the Soapstone Mountain cache, which you can hunt before you go home. So who is willing to see if we are right about the rating and risked being Stumped or prove we are wrong and that it is easy to find. Now people did find the cache it is copied from.

As for the contents of the cache. If you find it you will find mainly puzzles. But I did put some of the Geocaching and GGA window decals in it, plus a special reward for solving the puzzle, it has no real value other that it will originate only in this cache.

This cache is in the National forest with knowledge of the USFS, but hunting is allowed, and while placing the cache we saw hunter sign on the way in and a hunter on the way out. And while the hike in follows the FS road except the last few hundred feet, IT WOULD BE BEST TO WEAR BLAZE ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASONS!!

07/28/2002 I checked on the cache today, and removed some non puzzles. I will place them in other caches.
