Found in Green Street, Richmond, on the side of the (still but not for long) Dimmeys store, this mural was painted by Hayden Dewar over 4 years in the mid 2000's. He was apparently knocking on doors looking for artistic work when Dimmeys decided they needed a mural. We can be glad he did.
A large piece of work, the mural depicts many iconic local and other images since Dimmeys opened in 1853, and has thankfully remained almost untouched by graffiti vandals. I have identified over 100 images and there are a number that I haven't. It is well worth even a brief look when you get the cache – the quality of the work is excellent.
The building has recently been sold and the future of the mural is uncertain, although most of it is expected to remain.
The Cache
Is necessarily small (Eclipse Tin) in a high-muggle area. It is not on or over the fence, and is easily accessible although not immediately visible. Good hints have been given.
Please make sure that you bring a writing implement.
My thanks to Rabbitto for making me aware of this one.
