Geocache Description:

The above coordinates is not for the letterbox hybrid. This is part of a 1.1 mile walk that will take you down part of the Blackwater Rail Trail. Placed with the kind permission of Essex County Council, the Blackwater Rail Trail is just one of the parks and open spaces run by Essex County Council.

For this series, you will need your own log book to record the stamp, name and bonus number for each cache as you go along. All the containers are small, except for the Blackwater Rail Trail Bonus, that is a regular to trade items and trackables.

Tom Thumb was the first American-built steam locomotive used on a common-carrier railroad. It was designed to convince owners of the newly formed Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to use steam engines. It is especially remembered as a participant in an impromptu race with a horse-drawn car; the "Tom Thumb" led the race until a belt slipped off a pulley and the engine lost power. The demonstration was successful, however, and in the next year the railroad, committed to the use of steam locomotion, held trials for a working engine.
