Geocache Description:

When hostanut began caching in 2001, it was about the number of caches Done ....but there were not many caches and he only knew dww9 (his son-in-law) who got him started caching.

After caching for a long time, the caches became plentiful and hostanut met and became friends with many cachers (including HiTech MD and MikeOtt). So it became not so much about the numbers but about family and friends (who have become like family). Now we not only enjoy caching with our friends and family but also have a good time whenever and wherever we get together with them. We just wish we had more time to travel, go out to dinner, visit and socialize with our caching family.

HiTech MD and hostanut became involved with Geo Claus’ puzzles because Titan_Toons and HiTech’s wife were internet friends. When MikeOtt, HiTech MD and hostanut decided to go to Washington for Geowoodstock VIII, plans were made to travel to Pomeroy to do Geo Claus’ puzzle caches since the puzzles were already solved. The east coast trio even met Geo Claus at the final of Puzzles, Puzzles, Puzzles.

Idaho is only about 45 minutes away from Pomeroy so caches by Titan_Toons, IN8CHIRO and silly_me would also be possible. MikeOtt, HiTech MD and hostanut had a little M&G with Titan_Toons and IN8CHIRO at the Midnight Geocoin Madness II ~ MGM 2 in Redmond, Washington.

MikeOtt, HiTech and hostanut were also fortunate to meet DR.D of absolute and absolutewife at Groundspeak’s Lost & Found Celebration in Seattle. Since this cache/puzzle was already in the planning stages, DR.D and his wife were asked about using their names in the puzzle….they gave their permission.

What better way is there to combine caching, friends, and family but to include them with a love of puzzles….thus West meets East *Family and Friends Math Cache* was created.

The cache is NOT at the listed cords but is in the Lewiston-Clarkson area.

Determine what numbers to substitute for the friends and family listed below and solve these math equations:
(You don’t have to be a math genius to solve these equations but it may be easier if you excel in math!)

A = GCD((GCD(Geo Claus,hostanut) + (GCD(Dr.D of absolute,absolutewife))),GCD(HiTech MD,MikeOtt))

B = LEFT((MEDIAN(hostanut,MikeOtt,Geo Claus) / MAX(hostanut,absolutewife,IN8CHIRO,Titan_Toons)) * MIN(hostanut,HiTech MD,Dr.D of absolute, silly_me) *hostanut,1)

C = ROUNDDOWN(((YEAR(IN8CHIRO)–YEAR(Dr.D of absolute))/(MONTH(hostanut)*MONTH(Geo Claus)))/DAY(absolutewife),0)

D = CEILING((AVERAGE(Dr.D of absolute,absolutewife,IN8CHIRO, Titan_Toons,silly_me) / AVEDEV(Dr.D of absolute,absolutewife, IN8CHIRO,Titan_Toons,silly_me)) / (AVERAGE(hostanut, HiTech MD, MikeOtt, Geo Claus) / AVEDEV(hostanut, HiTech MD, MikeOtt, Geo Claus)),1)

E = ROUNDUP(TAN(silly_me) + COS(IN8CHIRO) – SIN(Titan_Toons),0)

F = (ROUNDUP(LN(HiTech MD) + LOG10(hostanut),0))–(ROUNDDOWN(LOG10(HiTech MD) + LN(hostanut),0))

G = ROUNDUP(ABS((–Geo Claus + HiTech MD + silly_me / IN8CHIRO – MikeOtt * hostanut / absolutewife – MikeOtt * Titan_Toons / Dr.D of absolute / HiTech MD) / (–hostanut– Geo Claus * Titan_Toons / HiTech MD * hostanut / IN8CHIRO + Geo Claus / silly_me + Titan_Toons + absolutewife / Dr.D of absolute)),0)

Use standard math rules!

H = IF(HiTech MD < hostanut,ROUNDUP(SQRT(SQRT((Dr.D of absolute + absolutewife) / Dr.D of absolute)),0),ROUND(SQRT(SQRT(SQRT(IN8CHIRO) + SQRT(Titan_Toons))),0))

If the answer you get for A, B, C, D, E, F, G or H is greater than 10, add all the digits in your answer, if this sum is still greater than 10, add the digits in this sum.

For example: If the answer you get for D is 555, 5 + 5 + 5 = 15. Since 15 > 10, 1 + 5 = 6. Thus use D = 6.
If the answer you get for E is 23, 2 + 3 = 5 Thus use E= 5

To determine the final cords, plug the solutions to the above math equations into the following:

N 46° 2A.BCD
W 117° 0E.FGH

So does this prove that it really is about the numbers? Well, I’ll tell you that 7, 6, 1 and 0 are important numbers about this cache……but will that help you to solve this puzzle?

Please do NOT share the solution with others.
