創建は不詳。
当社は銅板葺入母屋造、本殿は一間社流造、明神鳥居（明治１４年作）１基、燈籠１対、手水鉢（１８５９年（安政５年）作）１基、神紋は本殿屋根のグシに「左三つ巴」で、平成４年に再建、ごく近くに普光山多聞院がある。
なお、火は秀、穂にも通じるもので、尊いことを意味し、これを神社名に冠にしたものであろう？
とすれば、総本社は、讃岐国の皇子神社（香川県高松市庵治町、創建は１６２０年（元和６年）、郷社、御祭神は神武天皇？）で、海上の守り神として再興された。
