Peruskätkö Pyhtään Kaunissaaren pohjoispäässä. [EN] Traditional cache on the north coast of the island of Kaunissaari in Pyhtää.
Harjumaista neljän neliökilometrin Kaunissaarta peittää omaleimainen, merellinen kangasmetsä. Kyläalue, joka on säilynyt elämäntyyliltään ja rakennuksiltaan aitona kalastajakylänä, sijaitsee saaren eteläkärjessä suojaisien satamalahtien läheisyydessä. Saaren pohjois- ja itärannoilla avautuvat upeat, pitkät hiekkarannat. Pohjoispäässä seisoo vielä paikallaan saaren valkoinen majakka. Kaunissaareen liikennöidään kesällä Pyhtään kirkonkylästä ja päivittäin Kotkan Sapokasta. Merimatka kestää n. tunnin. (www.pyhtaa.fi)
Kätkö sijaitsee saaren pohjoispäässä "majakan" lähistöllä. Kylästä sinne on tietä pitkin matkaa n. 3 km. Halutessasi voit myös poiketa katsomaan muinaisrannan Pirunpeltoa ja/tai kävellä itärannan polkua pitkin. Kierräthän kuitenkin mökkitontit. Saaressa on kyykäärmeitä.
[EN] The island of Kaunissaari, often referred to as the gem of the Eastern Gulf of Finland, can be reached easily by a regular boat service from Sapokka and the centre of Pyhtää. The boat trip from Kotka takes an hour. The fishermen’s village with its buildings, inhabitants and way of life has remained mostly intact. Fenced-in plots, gardens, landing stages, boat sheds and seaside storehouses are characteristic of Kaunissaari. Summer visitors are served by a shop, restaurant and cafeteria. The pleasant archipelago museum is an original attraction, and you can buy fresh smoked fish from the seaside storehouses. (www.kotka.fi)
The cache is located on the north beach of the island near the light beacon. The road distance from the village is about 3 km. On the way you can also visit the ancient shore stone field or walk by the path along the east coast. Please don't disturb the cottagers. There are poisoned vipers in the island.
