Cache near one of Oxford County's most popular moose viewing areas on Route 120 in Roxbury.
Moose have been congregating at the swampy area off the "Notch Road" for many years. I heard they are drawn to the minerals that are leaching into the swamp from the stockpile of salt/sand which is stored nearby.
One early morning I counted nine moose in this swampy area, all sizes - in the mud and in the road. You'll see a parking area by the sandpile where an audience gathers nightly in anticipation of a sighting. Be cautious when driving through this area!
The cache is a small container (twist type) holding a log. You will not have to venture into the swamp or down any moose trails. Bring your own pen or pencil....and camera for your bullwinkle photo!
