tigersden: I think that everyone has logged their attendences, and all of the TB's have been removed, so time to archive this event and plan for the next one, which will be after the bub arrives.

Thankyou again everyone that made it to the event and we look forward to meeting up with you all again soon.
Cheers

Geocache Description:

The day went exceptionally well. We had 32 Teams turn up and that meant 57 people. We managed to get 10 new caches published on the day, thanks to THE UMP. All in all we all had a fantastic day. Thank you everyone that attended the event, it was great to put some faces to the names we so often read and hear about.

This is our first attempt at organizing an event. And moving to a great town has made that possible.

We would like to meet the local Cachers and a few of the not so local Cachers, so we thought we would organize a MORNING TEA Meet'n'Greet here in Bendigo at the Lake Weeroona.

TIME: 10:00am (early so you can get out there and find some caches)

BYO:
Morning Tea / Drinks
Camera
TB's and Geocoins
Pathtags
Caching Bag
Caching Shoes
Long Pants
SUN SCREEN as the temp is going to be around 20°
Bottled Water

4X4/AWD/Motorbike/Mountain Bike if you are going to do the "Know Your Nursery Rhymes" cache...hopefully it will be finished, almost ready.
TORCH

We are bringing a small snack platter containing cheese, salami, ham etc to share with everyone.
If you would like to bring a small plate of something, or a cake or slice, that would be great.

TO DO:
Sign the LOG BOOK
REGISTER for the raffles by getting a name tag
Meet other Cachers
Find some of the local Caches
Swap Pathtags / TB's / Coins
Tell Caching Stories
Be in the Group Photo
Get your Team Photos taken
Take a copy of the new caches listed if you do not have access to a printer on the day.

We will have some new caches published on the day, and a night cache published on the Saturday. Most of the caches will have FTF keyrings in them for the FTF to take.

We will have print outs of the new caches for you to take.

For those arriving on the Saturday, we will be meeting a few Cachers up at the night cache if you would like to join us. We will be up there just after dark.

Group Photo at 1100am, followed by TEAM photos.
(These photos will go in a scrap book, that will then be scanned and placed on the "Bendigo Cachers" Facebook group and also on here. If you do not wish to have your photo displayed then please DON"T be in the photo's.)
Make sure you see me after the photo's to give me correct spelling of names and team names.

There will be a raffle drawn after the photos. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize drawn. To be in the running for the raffles you (ADULTS & OVER 14's) will need to make sure you register and receive a name tag which will have your special number printed on the back. This draw will also allow the winner to log as the FTF of the event.

For the kids under 14 there will be sticky labels that we will put your name and Team name on.

For those of you who are on facebook, we have up and running a group called Bendigo Cachers hooked on GEOCACHING.
If you would like to have a look and join then please feel free to do so.

A bit about the Lake and what it offers:

Situated in Napier Street, Lake Weeroona is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, with hundreds of people enjoying the fantastic amenities and natural surrounds every weekend. The picturesque ornamental lake is situated on an 18 hectare reserve with picnic areas and parkland featuring a fun and fitness track, BBQ's, undercover picnic facilities and playground, and is one of the city's most visited recreation facilities. From a simple picnic on the lush lawns on the lake foreshore, to a romantic sunset meal overlooking the water at the Boardwalk Cafe, Lake Weeroona is a great place to spend a glorious summer day.

One of the best adventure playgrounds in Bendigo can be found on the Napier St side of Lake Weeroona. Built with children's safety in mind, this brand new wonderland will keep the little ones amused for hours with slides, ladders and swings to wear themselves out on. Surrounded by a safety fence to prevent children wandering onto roads or into the water, you can sit and relax in the shade while your children explore a colourful world built just for them.

Lake Weeroona has two of the biggest and spacious public BBQ facilities in Victoria. Free of charge and fully undercover, there is ample space for large families to gather and enjoy the great Australian traditional BBQ. Large benches and seats are provided next to two large hotplates in each site. Fresh water is available next to each area and both are situated within easy walking distance to most of the reserve's other features such as rubbish bins, toilets and the takeaway food vendors.

Brand new toilet facilities have recently been completed late last year and offer clean and modern facilities. Situated close to the children's playground and BBQ areas near Napier St, these great rest rooms are maintained regularly for your convenience.

The Boardwalk Cafe is a fantastic dining experience all year round. Weather you want a quick coffee with friends on the magnificent boardwalk, or a gourmet evening meal inside, The Boardwalk Cafe is an ideal destination to tantalise the taste buds. An evening meal out on the boardwalk watching the sunset is an experience everybody should treat themselves to.
The Boardwalk Cafe also offers a limited takeaway selection of cold drinks and ice-creams to cool you down after a brisk walk around the loop track.

There is also Pedal boat hire: $3.50 for 15 mins
Friday Nights, Saturday & Sunday all day
