Farmer Maggot is a hobbit in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth universe. He lives on a farm named Bamfurlong in the Marish region of the Eastfarthing of the Shire.
When Frodo and his companions found themselves in Farmer Maggot's fields as they made their way to Crickhollow on September 25, 3018 of the Third Age, Maggot remembered Frodo but did not make good on his threat. Instead, the Hobbits were treated to a meal including a dish of mushrooms and bacon.
This cache is located on a side trail on San Bruno Mountain. The terrain difficulty is rated high - but you will learn why when you climb back up. If it is a warm day, bring water. I spotted two turkey vultures, a red tailed hawk and some hummingbirds in the first 5 minutes I was there. No nazgul though.
