The Tolkien Series - Smaug Traditional Cache
caccbags: Oh man - I think this is the first Tolkien Series one to be archived. It was muggled a lot, but unfortunately with no plants (and me in Idaho) replacing will be difficult. I will have a local cacher check on it from time-to-time and if it can be replaced, I will resurrect this cache.

J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium features dragons closely based on those of European legend.
Besides dragon (derived from French), Tolkien variously used the terms drake (the original English term, from Old English draca, in turn from Latin draco) and worm (from Old English wyrm, "serpent", "dragon").
Although he cannot see Bilbo because of the ring, Smaug smells Bilbo and greets him mockingly. Bilbo is smart, though, and answers Smaug only in riddles, which amuses the dragon enough to quell his anger for a while. Cleverly, the hobbit flatters Smaug into displaying his thick-skinned underbelly, revealing an open patch in Smaug’s scaly armor above his left breast.
Beware of muggles!!!!
