Say good-riddance to tons of trash and have tons of FUN with your geopals at the 2010 Spokane River Clean-up.
It's a great day for Geocachers to jump into the river clean-up. Join in the good times as we band together with Friends of the Falls to make trash disappear from the banks of the Spokane River.
We will be CITOing in the U-District. Meet at the above coordinates in the Avista parking lot between 9 and 10am. Parking is available at Avista, 1411 E. Mission, Spokane. We will walk from there to our assigned spot along the river. (The city will be assigning areas as the event gets closer.)
The day's schedule looks like this:
9:00 am - Check in, get your goodie bag, have some coffee courtesy of Thomas Hammer, fill your water bottle (bring your own!), and find your assigned team
10 am - noon - Trash clean-up
Noon - 3:00 pm - Judging of the “most interesting trash” competition at High Bridge Park
1:30 pm - Prizes awarded for the most interesting trash
The city provides us with latex gloves and trash bags. You may want to bring heavier gloves. Be sure to dress for the work and the rugged terrain along the banks of the river.
Bring friends.....the more the merrier.
This event is sponsored by the Inland Empire Chapter
of Washington State Geocaching Association. If you are a geocacher in
the state of Washington, please consider joining WSGA. See the WSGA
website for details.
