Geocache Description:

This is a mystery cache. The listed coordinates are for the parking area, but NOT for the final cache. You must solve the puzzle below to determine the final coordinates. You need to make some keen observations, do a little analysis and then do a little web research. The final coordinates are within 2 miles of the listed parking coordinates. This cache may be difficult in the winter if there is more than a foot of snow on the ground. The cache also contains a hint for the Hieroglyphics cache (GC2DAN2).

Consider the following list of short sentences. Each sentence contains a hidden element. Together, the elements from each sentence will form a connection to a common theme. The final letters in each sentence (19 letters) can be anagrammed into a multi-word phrase that defines the theme. To solve this puzzle, you need to:

  1. Discover the hidden elements in the sentences and deduce the theme that binds those elements together as a set.
  2. Solve the multi-word anagram.
  3. Determine the coordinates from the information below.

  1. The bank’s safe was in a vault and protected by an alarm.
  2. First, we went outside to breathe in Hawaii’s beauty.
  3. Wave interference occurs when two waves collide in a medium.
  4. John Wooden hosted this year’s charity ball for UCLA alumni.
  5. Obstruction-of-justice is a common charge for a politician.
  6. Leon was so high on heroin, that he didn't recognize you.
  7. Insider trading was under intense scrutiny at the SEC.
  8. Red, yellow and orange decorations were brought out in the fall.
  9. The Who liked to play rock operas with a supporting orchestra.
  10. The referee called a low blow on the boxer in red trunks.
  11. The union decided to strike three weeks before the biggest event of the year.
  12. She was at home running on her treadmill, when she got the call.
  13. Hunting is allowed if you are out of the game reserve.
  14. This is the first time that we got no hits searching on the web.
  15. Police suspected foul play and cordoned off the area.
  16. The ducks were over a pumpkin field flying east toward Maine.
  17. We balked at their second offer and they raised their price up.
  18. With four strikes in five frames, her team was now in third.
  19. Auburn hair and fair skin is common among people from Latvia.

You must solve the 19 letter anagram to determine A.
A = The alphabetical position (i.e., a=1..z=26) of the 9th and 19th letters in the multi-word anagram (they are the same letter).

Put the 19 hidden elements in alphabetical order to determine B, C, D and E.
B = The order of the hidden element in sentence 15 in the alphabetized list of all elements.
C = The order of the hidden element in sentence 7 in the alphabetized list of all elements.
D = The order of the hidden element in sentence 2 in the alphabetized list of all elements.
E = The order of the hidden element in sentence 12 in the alphabetized list of all elements.

Some web research should get you element F.
F = The section number in the official document that governs the subject of this theme.

Coordinates:
North:

D + C + A
EEA

West:

(E * F) - (A * B)

For the pedantic solvers, this puzzle contains four questionable elements but we included them anyway for fun. It also is missing at least two elements. Perhaps there are more, but they are a little less definitive. Can you figure out the missing elements? Our answer is in the log book in the cache.
