Geocache Description:

English :

Built by Archbishop Gauthier Cornut from 1230 to 1240, the Archbishop’s Palace must have been under construction when the king St. Louis was married in Sens in 1234. In the 19th century, the roof of the Palace was restored with varnished tiles by Viollet-le-Duc. The ground floor was occupied by the Ecclesiastical Tribune and its dungeons, a rare testimony of medieval prisons, which are covered with ancient graffiti. On the first floor, synods or ecclesiastical meetings were held in a vast vaulted room, lighted by two large windows topped by a polylobe rose window on the first floor
