Geocache Description:

A simple cache in the northern part of the Ashdod Forest, a conservation land along the Bay Circuit Path in Duxbury, MA.

The cache is hidden in a saucepan.  There are plenty of pieces of old cookware in the woods, but this one is an enameled pot.
Enameling is an ancient process; made by fusing powdered glass to a metal substrate by firing at high temperature.   The result is a durable composite that protects the metal from oxidation.  The glass coating is brittle however, and subject to cracking on impact.   Any compromise in the coating will expose the substrate, leading to rust & the eventual demise of the pot.
Such was the fate of this particular cache container.
