El sitio mas antiguo en Mallorca se encuentra en Port d’es Canonge. Un pueblo cerca de la costa cerca de Valldemossa.
Allá hay la arenisca (Buntsandstein) que se formó mas or menos antes de 250 Mio de anos en la ecopa del tiempo Triasico. Así es uno de los mas antiguas rocas de Mallorca.
La arenisca (Buntsandstein) se formó de la arena de cuarzo que se despositó en los estuarios. Minerales de hierro que se convertieron en oxidos hidratados causan el color rojo. Arenisca (Buntsandstein) no es una tipica roca (roca con color) si no una unidad de rocas con algunos cienes de metros que estan construido con roca detríticas.
El nombre arenisca „Buntsandstein“ esta reconocido de Abraham Gottlob Werner quien uso este terminó desede 1780 en sus conferencias en Friburgo.
La epoca del tiempo Triasico se puede subdividir en tres epocas.

El Triasico bajo antes de 250 Mio de anos con los dos periodos Induan y Olenekian. En esa epoca se formó el „Buntsandstein“.

Al Triasico medio pertenecen el Anisian y el Ladinian. Esta epoca del tiempo tiene entre 228 y 246 Mio anos de edad.

El mas joven es el Triasico alto: 200 hasta 228 Mio anos de edad. Carnian, Norian y Rhaetian pertenecen a esa epoca del tiempo.

The eldest corner of Majorca you will find in Port d'es Canonge, a little village at the coast near Valldemossa.
There is the colorful sandstone, called Buntsandstein which is formed about 250 million years in the Triassic era. So it's one of the eldest stone formation of Majorca. The Buntsandstein is built from Quratz sand, which was deposited in estuaries. Iron minerals, which are converted in the sea water to hydrated iron oxides, are the reason for the red color. Buntsandstein is no specific rock type (ie, a brightly colored sand stone), but a usually several hundred meters thick rock unit that is constructed primarily of sandstone. The name "Buntsandstein" goes back to Abraham Gottlob Werner, who used this term in 1780 in his lectures in Freiburg.
The Triassic era can be divided into three areas:
- The Early Triassic period about 250 million years ago is divided into the Induan and Olenekian ages. This is the epoch of the Buntsandstein.
- To the Middle Triassic belongs the Anisian and the Ladinian. This earth age is 228-246 million years old.
- The Upper Triassic is 200 to 228 million years old. These include the Carnian, the Norium and Rhaetium.

Die älteste Ecke von Mallorca findet sich in Port d’es Canonge, einem kleinen Küstenort in der Nähe von Valldemossa.
Dort gibt es den farbenträchtigen Buntsandstein, der vor rund 250 Millionen Jahren im Erdzeitalter Trias entstanden ist und damit zu den ältesteten Gesteinen auf Mallorca zählt. Entstanden ist der Buntsandstein aus Quarzsand, der sich in Flussmündungen ablagerte. Eisenmineralien, die im Meerwaser zu Eisenoxidhydraten umgewandelt wurden, bewirken die Rotfärbung. Buntsandstein ist kein bestimmter Gesteinstyp (also ein buntgefärbter Sandstein), sondern eine meist mehrere hundert Meter mächtige Gesteinseinheit, die überwiegend aus Sandsteinen aufgebaut ist. Der Name "Buntsandstein" geht auf Abraham Gottlob Werner zurück, der diesen Begriff ab 1780 in seinen Vorlesungen in Freiburg benutzte.
Das Erdzeitalter Trias lässt sich in drei Bereiche unterteilen:
- Das Untertrias vor rund 250 Mio. Jahren besteht aus den beiden Stufen Indusium und Olenekium. In dieser Zeit entstand der Buntstandstein.
- Zum Mitteltrias gehören das Anisium und das Ladinium. Dieses Erdzeitalter ist zwischen 228 und 246 Mio. Jahre alt.
- Am jüngsten ist das Obertrias: 200 bis 228 Mio. Jahre alt. Hierzu zählen das Karnium, das Norium und das Rhaetium.
Um diesen Cache zu loggen, erfülle bitte folgende Aufgaben:
- Welche besondere Eigenschaft hat Buntsandstein und wozu haben ihn die Mallorquiner früher benutzt?
- Wieviele Treppen kann man vom Strand aus sehen?
Optional kannst Du auch ein Foto von Deinem GPS vor den Felsen an den obigen Koordinaten aufnehmen und es mit dem Log einstellen.
