If the mountains of Vermont are its skeleton and rock its bones, then there' are a lot of bone shards along this road.
As I drove north on VT35 from Grafton, I was so struck by the litter of squared off boulders lying scattered at the feet of cliffs that I turned around and drove a mile of it over again to admire the jumble. My guess is that these rocks, varying in size from good for a stone wall to the size of a bungalow, were prised loose from the mountains by the force of water expanding as it froze in minute cracks.
There's a pull off on the south end of the part I drove twice. The cache is nearby.
