The Seelie Court Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

EyeD10T: I decided to archive this cache. This was one of my first hides, but I have a few more entertaining caches in the works and need to clear up some of the smaller hides I have out there...just to ensure that I give myself time to maintain the caches I have...I will be hiding a bigger one in this park sometime in the future.

In mythology and folklore, fairies and many other mythological creatures are classified in a number of ways. In Scottish folklore, the two most well known categories are the Seelie court and the Unseelie court.

The Seelie court is seen as a friendlier bunch of creatures. The word Seelie means blessed or holy and is the predecessor of the word “Silly”. The Seelie court creatures are a more helpful bunch and will return kindness with kindness and will send fair warning when an action has been taken that might offend them. Many of the creatures of the Seelie court will avenge themselves if they feel insulted and they can very well be prone to mischief, usually in the form of pranks and practical jokes. They are also known to be very kind and generous. Some examples of creatures belonging to the Seelie Court are Fairies, Elves, Pixies, Hobgoblins, and Brownies.

The Seelie Court is often compared to the summer months and to beautiful places. This cache will bring you to a beautiful place….one that you will probably find enjoyable, especially in the summer months. Being another one of those darn micros in the woods, well, that is where the mischief comes in.

Please bring your own pen and enjoy the hunt!

Congratulations to Cow Islander for being the FTF!
