Geocache Description:

This is a small circular lock and lock container covered in camo tape hidden at the Elsa M. Currier Reservation in Westwood, MA. Parking is available at the reservation sign on Downey Street. The reservation is open from dawn to dusk. You can follow the trail and then walk through the mowed field to the cache. The very end involves just a few feet of bushwacking. Make sure to cover it up when you leave. This will probably not be accessible after significant snowfall.

*There is an unactivated 10-year anniversary travel tag for the FTF.* ***Congrats to mpbamberg*** This is smaller than the original cache, but still has room for trade items and trackables. I drive by this spot all the time, and was intrigued by the sign. I finally decided to stop and explore it one day. It makes for a really pretty short walk. If you’d like to take a quick loop (should take you around 20 minutes) you can head out on the loop trail and visit both this cache and GCTDCN http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=321db556-7eec-4cc8-9d5b-15f0a24aa04f Currier’s Pond. A map is available at: http://westwood.patch.com/articles/currier-reservation-a-hidden-gem-of-westwood Placing this cache turned into a bit of a history lesson, as a local familiar with the reservation told me that the land was used for a “hobby” farm, and the Curriers were friends with the Roosevelts. Both presidents visited the property, and Teddy actually went hunting there! Apparently there is also a spring in the woods and the foundation of a well house. I think I’ve found the foundation, but have yet to come across the spring. You could spend a lot of time exploring this small area.
