Geocache Description:

Carrying on the tradition of
"Boston Marathon #1-Young at Heart"

This cache is located a short distance from the original "Boston Marathon #1-Young at Heart" originally placed by Codswallop. The original was very popular and had over 298 finds. I felt compelled to replace the cache as it was a tribute to Johnny Kelley and the story of his remarkable accomplishments in the Boston Marathon. The new placement is in a less vulnerable place and hopefully will remain as popular as its predecessor and namesake.

Johnny Kelley's legacy lives on through a bronze statue at about mile 19 of the Marathon route. It depicts an "older" Johnny running along side and holding the hand of his "younger" self. His signature song was "Young at Heart". Johnny used to sing it at the close of his inspirational talks to runners and school kids alike. He also wrote a book titled "Young at Heart"...of which I am proud to have a personalized autographed copy.

The cache container is a regular size lock 'n lock suitable for themed items and travel coins and bugs. Please re-hide well to avoid muggles. I hope you enjoy the location and historical significance.
Please read the plaque on the statue. I also had the privilege of being Johnny's driver for the many years he was Grand Marshall of the Boston Marathon. He related lots of neat stories and anecdotes during the 2 hour drive.

There is an appropriately themed unregistered FTF prize and a STF prize also.....Cache Happy!
