Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches on a circular walk approximately five miles long which takes in the areas of Shipbourne and Plaxtol. There are twenty caches en route with a bonus cache at the end making a grand total of twenty one, the letters and corresponding numbers which relate to the bonus cache are only in nine of the traditional caches, each of these caches will have the letter and associated number shown in the lid. To find the destination of the bonus cache you should record these whilst on route, try not to miss any!

We have tried to vary the caches, the traditional caches include small items for children to swap, there will also be tracker bugs located in some of these traditional type caches, some of the caches which are described as being (other) types, these will become quite obvious(hopefully) when you reach the destination on each one.

The route overall is reasonably flat with minor slopes, most of the walk is made up of footpaths and bridle paths, these are around fields and wooded areas. Part of the walk is within the pretty village of Plaxtol, some of the walk is on footpaths, however, there are certain parts where footpaths are lacking, it will be necessary to walk in the lane itself for short distances, obviously on this part of your route children and pets should be under a watchful eye.

During the winter months some of this route can be quite muddy so it would be advisable to wear boots, the route includes many picturesque views, some of the finest in kent, also nearby is Fairlawne Park Estate and Ightham Mote.

Listed below is a separate waypoint for your parking at Shipbourne Common

Your route starts at the rear of St Giles church which is a short walk from your car, follow the path through the church grounds and exit at the rear stone kissing gate and then follow the hedge line to the top of the field, turn right here towards cache number one.

A Pen or pencil will be needed on the other type caches, also tweezers might be handy.

There are two pubs on route for food or drink, the first one is situated at the street in Plaxtol village and the second one being at at Dunk's Green.

(Please note a short description for directions between each individual cache is located just above the hint)

Continue on the path after collecting cache number one still keeping the hedge to your righthand side, you will shortly pass Shipbourne Cricket ground.
