Auf dem Naturerlebnispfad in den Bodenteicher Seewiesen können Sie Natur erleben und verstehen. Hier wird Ihnen die Geschichte von Natur und Landschaft dieses Landschaftsschutzgebietes und sein Entstehen unter Einfluss des Menschen erzählt.
An Station 5 kann der Geocacher etwas über die hiesige Geologie lernen. Der Naturerlebnisweg verläuft entlang des ehemaligen Seeufers und mitten durch einen ehemaligen See. Dieser heute nicht mehr vorhandene See gehört zum Uelzener Becken und ist in der Saale-Eiszeit entstanden. Sicher geklärt ist die Entstehung dieses Sees nicht, aber es wird vermutet, dass es sich um den Einsturz eines Hohlraumes von immensen Ausmaßen handelte. In der Auswaschung eines darunter vermuteten Salzstocks und der folgenden Füllung mit Wasser soll dieser begründet sein.
Es kam in der Folge zu einer Flachmoorbildung und nach und nach zur Verlandung. Auch heute noch spürt man beim Gehen den federnden Grund deutlich durch das dicke Niedermoor im Untergrund. Nicht nur selten gewordene Pflanzen, sondern auch Tiere wie zum Beispiel die Rohrammer oder der Reiher bevölkern diesen besonderen Lebensraum. Es handelt sich hier um eines der größten zusammenhängenden Wiesengebiete in Nordostniedersachsen.
Zahlreiche weitere Infotafeln bringen euch die faszinierende Flora und Fauna der unmittelbaren Natur näher. An der Station "Schau ins Land: Vogelbeobachtung" findet sich ein nahe gelegener suchenswerter Traditional (GC1PZNG). Wer den Überblick behalten und die herrliche Aussicht genießen will, der sollte nicht versäumen, den Aussichtsturm zu erklimmen. Es bietet sich eine unvergleichliche Aus- und Übersicht über das Gebiet der Seewiesen.
Ausgehend von der Burg Bad Bodenteich, deren Besuch auf jeden Fall auch ohne die Anziehungskraft einer Dose zu empfehlen ist, stehen zwei Routen zur Verfügung. Eine von etwa 3,5 km Länge, eine andere mit 8 km Wegstrecke. Wer diesen Earthcache nicht direkt ansteuert, findet ihn auf der große Runde.
Um diesen Cache zu loggen, müsst ihr drei Fragen beantworten und ein Foto machen:
1. Bis zu welcher Tiefe lässt sich das Moor in den Seewiesen durch Bohrungen nachweisen?
2. Von welchen zwei Bergen ist das Gebiet umgeben?
3. Wann wurde in den Seewiesen nach Erdgas gebohrt?
4. Mache ein Foto von dir, mit deinem GPS oder Maskottchen in den Seewiesen!
GSA und Groundspeak stellt es den EC-Besitzern seit dem 10. Juni 2019 wieder frei, ein Foto als Beweis des Besuches zu fordern. Aber da es ja ohnehin Ehrensache ist, braucht man den Hinweis eigentlich gar nicht, oder!?
Durch das Absenden einer E-Mail (Message-Center ist selbstverständlich auch okay) mit den Antworten und eurem GC-Namen an uns und das Hochladen des Fotos in euren Online-Log erteilt ihr euch die Logfreigabe selbst. Sofern es Probleme mit euren Lösungen geben sollte, melden wir uns!

Here you can experience and understand nature on the nature experience path in the Bodenteicher lake meadows. The story of nature and landscape, its conservation and his arising under influence of mankind are all to be told here.
Particularly on station No. 5 the Geocacher can learn something about local geology. The nature experience way runs along the former lakeside and through the middle of a former lake. The no longer available lake is part of the Uelzener pelvis and has arisen in the hall ice age. How the lake has been formed isn't cleared but it is certain that it has been the outcome of a collapse of a cavity of immense extents. This shall be well-founded in the washout of a salt stick suspected underneath and the following filling with water.
It came to a fens formation and afterwards it slowly has been silting up. Even if you walk on top of it you can feel how the underneath bounces back on you. Walk and feel. This is an area that has not only become home for rear plants but also for some of the animals, such as the Reed Bunting or the Heron, which populated this special reserve. It is here one of the biggest coherent meadow areas of northeast Lower Saxony.
Numerous further information panels give you a better understanding of the fascinating flora and fauna of the immediate nature. On the station "Schau ins Land: Vogelbeobachtung" you also can find an nearby Traditional (GC1PZNG). Whoever wants to keep a good summary and enjoy the marvellous view shouldn't miss out on the outlook tower. It offers an awesome end and overview over the whole area of the lake meadows.
Two routes are available starting out from the castle of Bodenteich. We do recommend a visit of the castle in any case even without the appeal of a Cache! One rout is about 3.5 km of length, the other with 8 km. Who doesn't steer for this Earthcache directly, will find it of course on the large round.
To log this Earthcache you have to answer three questions. The answers you will find on the information panel. You also optional have to fulfil one task: 1. Up to which depth can you drill and still find moor underneath the lake meadows [Seewiesen]? 2. Name the two mountains this area is surrounded by? 3. Tell us which year people started to drill for natural gas in this area? 4. Take an picture of you or your GPS inside the lake meadows!
