La ciudad de Garachico con su puerto eran fundados directamente después de la conquista Tenerife en 1496 por el banquero Christobal Genueser de Ponte. Sin embargo el fin Garachicos como centro comercial venía el 5 de mayo de 1706 con la evasión de Montaña situado por encima del lugar del Estrecho (Volcán Garachico). La garganta caía al sur del puerto de Garachico, entonces más hermoso y más visitado de la isla. Dos flujos de lava la destruyen dentro de pocas horas; ninguna casa quedaba en pie. El puerto que había sufrido ya en 1645, porque una inundación mucho suelo adentro llevaba, era tan llenado que las lavas que amontonan formaban una cordillera secundaria en el centro de su extensión. Con esto los lavabos de mar pequeños (Piscinas naturales) en los cuales se puede nadar se producían también naturalmente. En todas partes alrededor de Garachico el suelo era cambiado completamente. Del nivel colinas subían, las fuentes faltaban, y masas de roca eran robadas por los temblores de tierra frecuentes de la tierra de terraplén y el crecimiento de plantas y quedaban en pie desnudo. Todavía hasta hoy se puede mirar del puerto en las montañas y ver estribación negros de la lava destructora.

The city of Garachico with their port was founded immediately after the conquest of Teneriffas 1496 by Christobal de Pontethe, a banker from Genoa . However, the end of Garachicos as commercial centre came on 5 May 1706 with the eruption of the Montaña del Estrecho (Volcán Garachico), which islocated directly above the city. The lava dome burst of south of the port of Garachico, which was at this time the most beautiful and most visited port of the island. Two lava stream destroyed every singel house in Garachico in few hours. The port, which had already suffered in the year 1645, because a flood washed in much soil, was filled out in such a way that the piled up lava formed foothills in the center. This way naturally small sea basins (Piscinas of naturales) were developed, which are nowadays open for swimming. Everywhere around Garachico the soil was completely converted. Lowland turned into hilly country, springs vanished, and rock masses lost the dam earth and plants by the frequent seismic shocks. Even today one can see from the port the black destructive lava streams in the mountains.
The former town-gate is the only thing remaining from this time. It lies more deeply than the rest of the city, showing perfectly how deeply the old Garachico was buried by the lava.

3.) In how many Piscinas one can swim?

Die Stadt Garachico mit ihrem Hafen wurden unmittelbar nach der Eroberung Teneriffas 1496 vom Genueser Bankier Christobal de Ponte gegründet. Das Ende Garachicos als Handelszentrum kam aber am 5. Mai 1706 mit dem Ausbruch des oberhalb des Ortes gelegenen Montaña del Estrecho (Volcán Garachico). Der Schlund brach südlich vom Hafen von Garachico ab, damals dem schönsten und besuchtesten der Insel. Zwei Lavaströme zerstören sie in wenigen Stunden; kein Haus blieb stehen. Der Hafen, der schon im Jahr 1645 gelitten hatte, weil ein Hochwasser viel Erdreich hineinführte, wurde so ausgefüllt, daß die sich auftürmenden Laven in der Mitte seines Umfangs ein Vorgebirge bildeten. Dabei entstanden auch natürlich kleine Meeresbecken (Piscinas naturales), in denen man schwimmen kann. Überall rings um Garachico wurde das Erdreich völlig umgewandelt. Aus der Ebene stiegen Hügel auf, die Quellen blieben aus, und Felsmassen wurden durch die häufigen Erdstöße der Dammerde und des Pflanzenwuchses beraubt und blieben nackt stehen. Noch bis heute kann man vom Hafen in die Berge blicken und die schwarzen Ausläufer der zerstörerischen Lava sehen.
Das ehemalige Stadttor ist das Einzige, was damals übrig geblieben ist. Es liegt tiefer als die restliche Stadt, so dass man hier heute wunderbar sehen kann, wie tief das alte Garachico von der Lava begraben worden ist.

1.) Am Stadttor ist eine Steintafel über den "Parque de la historica Puerta de Tierra" angebracht, welche beiden Jahreszahlen stehen darauf?
2.) Wie weit (in km) ist es vom Stadttor bis nach San Jose de los Llanos? (Infotafel vor dem Park)(Schild ist weg)
3.) In wie viele Piscinas kann man schwimmen?
