Geocache Description:

A stroll through some of our favorite places in Chatham.

Last year, we created two new caches for our nephew and niece-in-law as Christmas presents. This year, we thought we would carry on the tradition. After signing on to walk the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure in 2010, Sarah and Greg spent much of this year training for their 3 day, 60-mile walk to raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer. Sarah’s Stroll is our congratulatory geocache to both of them for their dedication to this very worthwhile cause.

This stroll will take you to some of our favorite places to visit close to the town of Chatham. At each of the stops along the stroll, pick up the clues that you’ll need in order to solve for the final destination location. If you decide to walk the entire route, you’ll probably stroll about 3 miles. All but the part near the final destination has sidewalks. You might want to gather the clues and then move your car to the final or you might want to walk the whole thing. In any case, take care. Town can get very busy, especially in the summer season.

Although you can do the stages in any order, we suggest that you start at the initial location and follow the stages in order. There is good parking at the initial location (except on hot summer days).

Initial Location: This is a good place to leave your car for this stroll and marks the first place to find a clue. This great little beach is close to town. In the summer, the beach is crowded with families enjoying the lovely views. When was the monument erected? 19A0

Stage 2: You’ll find your next clue here at this wonderful little museum. The kids will love the playground across the street. Exciting Cape League baseball is played nearby all summer long. Find the number 1845B.

Stage 3: This monument is at a central location in town. Charles Upham was only 2C years old when he died.

Stage 4: The library is one of the most beautiful buildings in town and one of the busiest! Presenter William is the Dth generation from the first William Nickerson.

Stage 5: This historic home is tucked away and many visitors to our town miss it! It is circa E8F0.

Stage 6: Kate Gould Park is probably best known for the 10 Friday night summer concerts that take place here each year. The concerts begin at 8PM and last about 1½ hours. Each concert gets the whole family involved with marching for the kids and their parents, sing-alongs, a waltz set, a foxtrot set, and, our favorite, the bunny hop. To get good seats, folks set out their blankets starting at 10AM in the morning. By afternoon, the park looks like a lovely quilt! Wendy was born in 195G.

Stage 7: Chase Park is a peaceful place to walk and relax. In late August, the park comes alive with the Festival of the Arts. The building in front of you has H sides.

Final Stage: N 41° 40.(E+F)A(H-1) W 069° 5C.DBG. This museum is a hidden gem on Cape Cod. Plus Greg and Sarah had some of their wedding pictures taken very close to where this cache was placed!
