Geocache Description:

The location and terrain are not difficult; I'd rate it as a park and grab. Please note that this IS placed as a portion of the Spirit Trail [a popular cache series/group out of Ohio] and you MUST follow common courtesy. To re-cap the rules: No night caching, no need to disturb the site in any way. The cache does not require entry, nor does it go anywhere near the grave sites.

The cache container is large enough for small coins or trade items and is equipped with a Rite-in-the-Rain log.

Located in/near the beautiful Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale, Massachusetts, this site is well known for its little known historical value. The story of Israel Bissell is well known by town residents that grew up here; unlike the famous Paul Revere, Israel Bissell was NOT drunk off of his horse during his long ride from Massachusetts to Philidelphia. He rode four days and six hours, 345 miles, while carrying a message to the countryside thoughout... "To arms, to arms, the war has begun!"

Unfortunately, the 19 miles that Paul Revere rode went down in history. The joke is, his name made a better rhyme.

Buried on site here is the historic grave of one of the TRUE riders of the Revolution. Once you've found the cache, look into the left portion, where the "old area" is located. Many graves are from colonial times.

Along with this history, the location holds a much more personal value: a large amount of my family is buried here. To the right, just after you enter the gates, are the graves of Barbara A. and James O. Galeucia. Much further in, under a tree, is Anne Peters. This cache is named in loving memory of them: my grandparents.

Congrats to Rocking the Goat for FTF! Number 788 on his FTF list. Dang.
