Geocache Description:

This cache maybe easier to find at certain times of the year. We have visited this area in the spring and it can be quite squishy, so boots might not be a bad idea. Also during the warmer spring months, don't forget your binoculars to get a closeup view of the nesting herons. The cache is in a rectangular plastic box with a blue cover.

You will need to bushwhack 100’ from the path.

Over 118 acres of Town owned land contain one of the most biodiverse parcels in Westwood including the famous Great Blue Heron Rookery. The reservation was a gift to the Town by Henry Davis, Sheila Fiona and Margaret Lyman. Several walking trails have been laid out around the pond, including some to view the heron rookery without disturbing the birds. In addition to the heron rookery, wood duck nesting boxes dot the pond.
