Geocache Description:

This is a regular sized lock-n-lock container covered with camo tape. It is located in the Franklin State Forest. Please make sure to cover the cache before you leave, as it could possibly be spotted by muggles!

A 1946 topo shows a structure near the corner of Spring Street and a dirt road that continues on to Maple Street. We couldn’t find a trace of whatever was there, but we placed this geocache in its honor.

We tried to make this snow friendly, but significant snow might make it difficult. You could easily cross-country ski or snowshoe in to this. We placed it via “Nordic walking” (aka hiking boots and ski poles), and it took us 20 minutes to get from the car to the cache.

Also, this makes for a great loop with the rail trail geocaches. You can see a map of the Franklin State Forest here: (visit link) You can do the caches on the rail trail, then turn up Spring Street and the trails connecting to it will take you to the other caches on Magotty Hill and then back out onto the rail trail.

Parking coordinates are on Spring Street at a pull off area on the rail trail.

***There is an unactivated travel tag for the FTF***

UPDATE: If you approach from the parking coordinates, where Spring Street turns to dirt (or if there's a lot of snow cover - snow) you are still on Spring Street, and it is fine to enter the park from there. The no trespassing signs refer to the land on both sides of the road. I confirmed this with the DCR.
