Geocache Description:

Coffee can hidden in the gap of the old Waitsfield Gap Road between Waitsfield and Northfield.

Another “forgotten road gap” in my Tour Divide racer series. The Tour Divide is a 2745 mile mountain bike race along the spine of the Continental Divide from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico (Mexican Border). I trained for this race in Vermont with DaveB and together we sought out old mountain roads like this one to simulate riding out West. As such this is a very long climb from either direction. Coming from the east one can drive most of the way up in a car. From the west it is a long way up from Floodwoods Road on this abandoned town road. The best time of year to make the trip is in the winter when VAST comes through and grooms it for snow machines... otherwise it is pretty wet.

I named this cache after fellow racer Matthew Lee -the grand master of the Tour Divide (visit link) He has raced it seven times and won five of them. I figured this location was worthy of his toughness. There is also a little memorial to DaveB in the cache. He introduced me to geocaching but died during the 2010 race. Check out his blog here (visit link)

Please make sure the lid is sealed and cache is placed back as found!
