Os cubos das casas brancas, com janelas e platibandas debruadas a cinzento e azul, deram a Olhão o epíteto de cidade "cubista".
As ruas apertadas e sinuosas do Bairro da Barreta ou do Levante, perto dos Mercados Municipais, merecem um passeio despreocupado e sempre muito agradável...
Os Mercados Municipais são um dos ex-líbris da cidade: trata-se de dois edifícios construídos em 1915: um para a venda de peixe e outro para venda de hortaliças e frutas. Estes mercados foram recentemente remodelados, sendo actualmente dos melhores do País em higiene e qualidade.
